Short description: Art Works for Change is pleased to introduce our currently traveling, international contemporary art exhibition, Off the Beaten Path: Violence, Women and Art. The exhibition addresses the very critical issue of violence against women, and features renowned artists such as Marina Abramovic, Louise Bourgeois, Mona Hatoum, Yoko Ono, among others. Off the Beaten Path, touring globally through 2014, brings together artworks by 30 artists from around the world to explore violence against women and girls and their basic human rights to a safe and secure life. The exhibition combines the highest integrity of art with important social messaging and storytelling to create awareness, inspiration for action, and address systems for positive social change. Off the Beaten Path, produced by the nonprofit Art Works for Change, opened in 2009 at the Stenersen Museum in Oslo, Norway. Thereafter it traveled to the University of California, San Diego Art Gallery and the Centro Cultural Tijuana, the Museo Universitario del Chopo in Mexico City, the Chicago Cultural Center and it is currently on view at The Global Health Odyssey Museum in Atlanta. The exhibition has been well received by both the media and audiences. We are pleased to announce that Off the Beaten Path will be traveling to New Orleans, Denver, Paris, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Taiwan through 2014. At the moment, we have space within the tour to add additional Museums, mostly in 2012 and a few in 2013 and would welcome an opportunity to discuss bringing this powerful exhibition. Art Works for Change has created an online version of the exhibition for your review on our website, as well as online access to press coverage, including the exhibition press release. For your reference, attached to this email are the following documents: the exhibition proposal, the exhibition requirements, and the exhibition brochure. In addition, The show requires approximately 5000 square feet of space (500 sq meters) including designated rooms for video installation though the exhibition can be adapted for smaller spaces. If your space cannot accommodate the whole show, we would still be happy to discuss this with you.
